Maryborough Military and Colonial Museum will be a cooler, even more inviting place for visitors to honour our Anzac history, after Member for Wide Bay Llew O'Brien announced $50,000 for air-conditioning and a solar system.

"Maryborough Military and Colonial Museum is an amazing resource to ensure our Anzac legacy is never forgotten, and it relies heavily on volunteers to keep the doors open," Mr O'Brien said.

"The $50,000 grant from the Liberal National Government will allow the Museum to install an air-conditioning system to the lower floor, which will help keep volunteers and visitors comfortable, and will also provide a solar system to reduce their power bills."

Mr O'Brien visited the Museum with Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack yesterday to announce the funding, meet with volunteers and tour the facility.

"The Maryborough community is rightfully proud of this incredible museum, which has one of the best military history collections in Australia, and I am pleased to have been able to make the museum experience even more enjoyable," he said.

Mr O'Brien said it was important to acknowledge the hard work of volunteers, including the Maryborough Military and Colonial Museum director John Meyers.

"The value of the museum to Maryborough and indeed all of Australia cannot be overstated," Mr O'Brien said.

"Museum volunteers have educated countless school groups and tourists about our military history, preserving our Anzac history, and it has also become a significant driver for tourism as the Maryborough Military Trail takes shape.

"I congratulate John and all the volunteers for their efforts, and am pleased to be able to offer this financial assistance from the Liberal Nationals Government."
