LNP calls for urgent safety audit for government housing

Published:

LNP Shadow Minister for Education Jarrod Bleijie is calling for an urgent security audit of government accommodation following the assault of a teacher in Lockhart River with inadequate fencing.

“This savage assault should be a massive wake-up call to the Labor Government to review safety measures at government accommodation,” Mr Bleijie said.

“The attack at Lockhart River was shocking and must lead to action to ensure other teachers, nurses and police aren’t at risk in unsafe government housing.

“A security audit of all regional and remote housing would reassure teachers, nurses and police that they are as safe as they can be from violence.

“Safety is crucial to ensure the ongoing provision of frontline services in regional areas of Queensland.”
