Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O'Brien is calling for project proposals for funding from Round 4 of the Federal Coalition Government's Stronger Communities Programme (SCP).
"Up to $150,000 is available in each electorate to support small capital projects to benefit local communities in Wide Bay," Mr O'Brien said.
"Eligible organisations, including councils and incorporated not-for-profit community service and sporting groups, can apply for grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 that are supported by matching cash or in-kind contributions from other sources for the project.
"The SCP is a great opportunity for councils and community service and sporting organisations to seek funding for projects to help them improve their facilities and strengthen their communities.

"I encourage organisations interested in bringing forward SCP project proposals to contact my electorate office on telephone 4121 2936, or the Sunshine Coast, or Wide Bay Burnett Regional Development Australia Committees through the website  www.rda.gov.au  for further information.
Mr O'Brien said the region has been very successful under previous rounds of the Stronger Communities Programme and the additional investment for a fourth round of SCP would ensure that local decision making continues to play a decisive role in funding community building projects.
Round 3 funding supported these organisations:

  • Little Haven Cooloola/Sunshine Coast Palliative Care
  • Kilkivan Veteran's and Community 'Men's Shed' Association Inc
  • Graham House Community Centre
  • Sunshine Beach Surf Lifesaving Club Inc
  • Wide Bay Motor Complex Incorporated
  • Goomeri & District Show Society Inc
  • Cooloola Coast Medical Transport Inc
  • Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association Inc. Noosa QF5
  • Sunshine Butterflies
  • Bauple Band Hall
  • Murgon Lions Club
  • Queensland Dairy and Heritage Museum Inc

Grant guidelines, eligibility requirements and the application process can be found at www.business.gov.au/scp
"Applications will be prioritised by a local Stronger Communities Programme Committee and assessed against the SCP guidelines to ensure that project proposals deliver value for money,"said Mr O'Brien.
SCP project proposal nominations close on 31 August 2018.
