Local Teen takes Aim at World Record

Later this year, 16-year-old Sunshine Coast teenager Liam Morey will embark of a journey of a lifetime.

The goal, to break the world record for the youngest unassisted circumnavigation of Australia by aircraft.

Upon the successful completion of this flight, Liam will have beat the current record holder by nearly 12 months. An incredible achievement for a 16-year-old local.

Scheduled to depart from the Sunshine Coast Aero Club (Sunshine Coast Airport) at 9am on Saturday the 8th September 2018, Liam will fly a Bristell Light Sport Aircraft over 16,000km around Australia making some 30 stops along the way over a three-week period.

Liam’s aim is to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) field to high school students, and deliver a message of youth empowerment.
