Maroochydore Police would like to remind all residents and visitors to the Sunshine Coast to lock up and secure your property. Recently there have been a number of opportunist type thefts in our tourists hot spots and local suburbs.
Maroochydore Police Station’s operations leader, Acting Senior Sergeant Grant Wilcox said thieves often took advantage of people enjoying the holidays and targeted their valuables in unsecured cars and campsites.
“Most opportunistic crime is preventable and can be deterred by following simple crime prevention strategies such as keeping your valuables out of site and in a safe area, securing vehicles and bicycles, and keeping a look out for suspicious behaviour,” Acting Senior Sergeant Wilcox said.
Local caravan parks have been provided with signage to remind visitors to secure their valuables.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to report suspicious behaviour or persons by contacting Policelink
