LTE – Labor's tax hoax

Labor's payroll tax hoax is a looming disaster for Queensland jobs and businesses.

By deferring payroll tax payments, all that Jackie Trad has done is merely postponed the day Labor's tax man will come knocking on the door of businesses.

Proper leadership would have waived the payroll tax entirely for these businesses, not simply prolong the pain.

Instead of supporting Queensland businesses during the fallout from the coronavirus, the Palaszczuk Labor Government has chosen to hit businesses with a double tax bill in six months' time.

Queensland will still be recovering from the impact of coronavirus six months from now and Jackie Trad's plan is to hit them with double taxes hurting jobs.

After five years of Labor, our state now has the worst unemployment rate and most bankruptcies in the nation.

If Labor was serious about stimulating the economy the government would grant a payroll holiday for Queensland businesses not a short-term bill postponement.

Jackie Trad has already slammed businesses with nine new or increased taxes, ripping $3.5 billion from Queensland's economy yet she can't even grant a payroll holiday during major economic crisis.

Labor had already well and truly trashed Queensland's economy before the coronavirus, now the government's slow response and hoax tax measures are seriously risking jobs.

It's clear Labor has no plan for our economy after five years of failure - but the LNP does.

The LNP will build a stronger economy so there is capacity to respond to unexpected emergencies to give struggling small businesses a hand and protect local jobs.
