Members of the community came together to stand up against DFV

The Maleny Neighbourhood Centre called and the community responded by participating in a gathering at Tesch Park in support of ‘Say No To Domestic and Family Violence’ today.

The community came together to take a stand and honour those who have lost their lives as a result of domestic and family violence.

Domestic violence advocates, including the Neighbourhood Centre and the Queensland Police provided  guest speakers to address the community.

Flowers were laid in honour of those victims to Domestic and Family Violence in 2018.

Community Choir members paid tribute by singing a collection of songs emphasising that as a victim ‘you are not alone’.

Police reinforced that through our collective efforts, we will embed respectful relationships and a zero tolerance approach to domestic and family violence throughout the community so that everyone, everywhere, feels safe, supported and protected.

The call to action encourages anyone who is concerned about someone they know to call DVConnect (Womensline on 1800 811 811 or Mensline on 1800 600 636) for confidential advice on how to keep them safe.

This month the Queensland Government is calling on the community to ‘do something’ again domestic violence. Click here to visit the ‘do something’ website to find out more.
