Member for Buderim Brent Mickelberg MP called upon the Minister for Transport and Main Roads in the first sitting week of Parliament to match the LNP’s commitment to fix the dangerous and congested Sugar-Mooloolaba Road intersection.

“The Minister has since advised that the Government has invested $1.03 million to plan for an upgrade at the Buderim-Mooloolaba Road Interchange, including the Sugar Road and Mooloolaba Road intersection and that these plans are not expected to be finalised until later this year.

“I am pleased the Government recognizes the need to upgrade this road infrastructure which is effectively bringing affected communities to a grinding halt. The preparation of plans is a start and I look forward to being briefed by the Department as part of this process.

“As soon as the plans are complete I expect the steps toward construction will be swift and prioritised. As each month passes, the intersection rapidly becomes more congested and infinitely more dangerous. These ‘plans’ must translate into a ‘fix’ and not be filed in the too hard basket.

“There is overwhelming community support and demonstrated need for these works to be completed and I will hold the Government to account to ensure that it is.

“Improving the Sugar-Mooloolaba Road intersection is one of my top priorities and I will continue to fight to ensure the people of Buderim get their share”.
