Like many in our community, I lost my mother to cancer in 2009. I've seen first-hand the impact that suffering from a debilitating condition like cancer has. The work that the volunteers and staff at Bloomhill do, significantly improves health outcomes and quality for life for those facing the challenge of dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
That's why at the last election, as part of the LNP Team, I committed to providing $660,000 to support Bloomhill Cancer Care. Since the election I have repeatedly called on the Queensland Labor Government Minister for Health to match the LNP's commitment so that Bloomhill can continue their invaluable work. Unfortunately, Steven Miles has instead decided to play a misleading political blame game.
The Buderim community, Bloomhill volunteers and those who rely on Bloomhill's services don't care who provides financial support, but they certainly want to see Bloomhill get the support it so desperately needs. That's why I will continue to fight to ensure that Bloomhill gets the resources it needs.
I again call on Steven Miles to set aside the political games and commit to funding the Bloomhill Cancer Care's essential work.
