The many people who love to stop at Alexandra Headland and watch the ocean now have a new spot to take in the views, after Sunshine Coast Council constructed a new viewing deck in front of the surf club.

Division 4 Councillor John Connolly said the new deck was a place for people to sit and watch the ocean or meet friends.

“The new viewing area is an extension of the existing foreshore, offering additional seating and views from Point Cartwright to Mount Coolum,” Cr Connolly said.

“In addition to this, the new deck conceals the existing stormwater outlet to increase the area’s visual appeal.

“This project is one example of the many smaller infrastructure projects council delivers that have a big impact – the deck has been very well received by the community and it’s great to see it being so well used already.”

The deck is the latest of many council improvements made to Alex foreshore in recent years.

“This area has been transformed in recent years with a range of new features for our community to enjoy, from barbecue shelters, an extended grassed area and timber daybeds to the world class skate park.”
