New Jobs Hub highlighting opportunities in Wide Bay

Published:

A new Jobs Hub which connects businesses and organisations to employees has been launched by the Australian Government.

Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O'Brien said Jobs Hub features a selection of businesses and organisations that are currently hiring and how to contact them, can be found at  www.dese.gov.au/covid-19/jobs-hub

"The jobs market is changing rapidly throughout Australia and Jobs Hub supports businesses and helps people who are looking for work," Mr O'Brien said.

"Jobs Hub works by allowing employers to advertise vacant positions and enables job-seekers to apply for them."

"The Government is continuing to do everything it can to keep Australians connected to the workforce, and Jobs Hub contains information on employment opportunities across a range of sectors that people can apply for.

"These are critical jobs that will keep the economy going and keep as many Australians in work as possible."

Mr O'Brien acknowledged that while many businesses have been adversely affected by COVID-19, there are some areas of the economy now experiencing increased demand for workers.

These include jobs in industries including health and medical care, transport and logistics, and some areas of retail, resources, mining services, manufacturing, agriculture and government, among others.

"Now more than ever, all jobs are essential, and every person with a job is an essential worker.  The Government is working with local employers, industry organisations, and employment services providers to identify where the jobs are and help people looking for work move into these jobs quickly," Mr O'Brien said.

"Employment will grow by connecting job seekers directly with those employers who are experiencing increased demand for their services.

"If your business is looking for staff and scaling up your workforce quickly, I encourage you to email the Workforce Contact Centre so you can be connected with the support you need to get your workforce on board," Mr O'Brien said.

Employers who are hiring and require support to connect with potential candidates are encouraged to contact the Department of Education, Skills and Employment at workforce@dese.gov.au.
