Newman backs Bligh's asset sale agenda

Katter’s Australian Party State Leader, Aidan McLindon, today stated that LNP Leader Campbell Newman’s decision to sell the Queensland Government’s remaining $3 billion stake in QR National is an admission of support for Anna Bligh’s asset sales agenda.

“Mr Newman's credibility to protect Queensland’s assets no longer exists,” said Mr McLindon. “It’s pretty simple. Either you are opposed to asset sales and you don’t sell off $3 billion worth of QR National shares or you support asset sales and you flog them off before moving to the next target.”

“The LNP Leader’s decision to sell these assets means, as expected, that he is going into the election on a pro-privatisation platform.” “It also means that the LNP’s political posturing for the last three years over asset sales has been a complete sham.”

“The LNP is being very deceptive by claiming that they are following through on a decision already made by the ALP. This is not case. The shares are not for sale and Campbell Newman wouldn’t sell them unless he is pro-privatisation.”

“The LNP cannot be trusted over privatisation. They have already committed to flog off QR National, and are now making the same promises about the electricity industry that the LNP made in New South Wales.”

“It was only six months after the New South Wales election that we saw the LNP Government privatising power. The same will happen in Queensland.” “The Australian Party will not privatise assets and it will not sell off QR National.”
