It’s show time!
With only a matter of weeks before the Pomona Showgrounds will host the 108th annual Noosa Country Show, locals can’t wait to see what will be on offer this year. On September 15 and 16, animals, side show alley and entertainment will fill the grounds. A total of 19 competition sections will take place, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Noosa’s traditional country show will see a variety of competition sections that help celebrate the diversity of people and their talents in our community. Equestrian, stud beef, dairy cattle, cavy, poultry and dogs sections are the main animal sections. Saturday brings our must see woodchop comp beside the Paddock to Plate demonstration and stalls.
Noosa Show Society President, Cameron Magick said he’s delighted with the shape the show is taking and the efforts of so few for so many over the two days.
"It’s been a real labour of love again this year, but we’re very happy with the way it’s all coming together,” he said.
“We’re a passionate show committee and thrilled with the program we were able to assemble for 2017. I really want to thank Peter Travis and the team for their incredible efforts, allowing us to showcase the very best of Noosa Country to so many. We have to thank our many sponsors too. Noosa Council has been a great support along with the team at the Pomona Community Bank branch of Bendigo Bank who continue to be our major supporters,” Cameron added.
Located near the main entry gate, animal workshop shows will take place at 11.00am and 2.00pm, and interactive farm feeding of baby animals with bottles of milk will happen at 9.00am and 6.00pm. Kids can meet and get a photo with a variety of entertainers across both days.
There will be two stages and two days and two nights jammed packed with great bands including Hard Labour and Shades of Grey along with emerging band, Von Vixa and family entertainment with Bubbles, Clowns and magic acts.
This year, the Rooftop Express Show on both days will share just amazing horsemanship, The Honky Tonk Rodeo pro barrel racing, saddle bronc, bareback, poddy calves and of course, the bull ride.
Grab a coffee and cake at Champion Café in the Pavilion while you check out the Creative Craft, Cookery, Horticulture and Fruit ‘n’ Vege, Junior Art, Woodcraft and Cavy sections are a must visit. Whether it’s shaking hands with Piggy from Bendigo Bank, watching miniature horses or enjoying face-painting, the choices are endless. Kids can also bring their pooch in for the Loveable Mutley competition after the Dog Show on Friday to win great prizes.
There’s lots more to see and do at an affordable price. Adults’ tickets are $15.00 per day, children are $10.00 and a family pass for one day is $35 for up to two adults and three children. You can also pre-purchase your tickets to avoid the line-up at the gate by calling the show office on 5485 2331.
