On the footy field one took the other under his wing but there has been a positional change now that they’re in the property game together…and the combination is a winning one.
As the hard-as-nails captain of the Cronulla Sharks in the early 1990s, Dan Stains was a mentor to many including the fresh faced Paul Bell who had just entered first grade for the then NSWRL side.
After playing together for several years and then going on to further build their illustrious football careers with different clubs in Australia and overseas, they have reunited at Henzells Agency where they are tackling new careers in commercial real estate, this time with “Belly” offering the guiding hand.
As commercial manager for Henzells, Paul Bell is now an eight-year veteran for the family owned company which welcomed former Sharks skipper, Australian and Queensland State of Origin representative, Dan Stains to the fray this year.
“I might have taught Belly a few things about grade football when he came to the Sharks as a young whipper snapper in 1992 but now the roles are reversed and Belly is my captain. What he has taught be about commercial real estate is invaluable,’’ Dan said.
The scoreboard shows just how successful the combination has been with the pair responsible for more than 20 sales in the last few months alone, for a combined value of over $7 million.
Some of the more notable sales have included the iconic Lefty’s restaurant in Duporth Avenue Maroochydore for $1.2 million, the huge success of Bells Creek Business Park which has seen 14 of the available 16 industrial units sold off the plan ranging in price from $200,000 to $280,000, and the successful freehold sale of a commercial property in Moffat Beach Industrial Estate in the mid $500,000s.
“There is certainly plenty of confidence in industrial and commercial stock on the Sunshine Coast at present,’’ Paul said.
“Leasing activity is also very encouraging ranging from retail and office space in the Caloundra CBD to industrial sites in Bells Creek.
“It’s great to working with Dan and achieving positive results together. Football teaches you about team work, always giving your best and not letting people down which are great lessons for the business world and general life as well,’’ he said.
