Police issued 22 speeding infringements to motorists travelling through the Sunshine Coast Hinterland yesterday as part of a joint operation targeting traffic offences in the area.

Operation Hills, comprising of officers from the Road Policing Task Force and Nambour Road Policing Unit, also saw a further seven Traffic Infringement Notices (TINs) handed out to motorists who failed to keep left of the double lines.

Amongst those detected allegedly speeding was a group of three luxury sports cars, A Porsche 911 GTS, a Dodge HellCat and a Corvette Z06.

The 48-year-old male driver of the Corvette was allegedly travelling Maleny Stanley River Road in Booroobin at 133 kilometres per hour in an 80 zone. He was fined $1245 and had his licence suspended.

The two other vehicles were detected allegedly travelling between 31-40 kilometres per hour above the 80 limit, resulting in fines of $622 and six demerit points.

Officer in Charge of Nambour Road Policing Unit Shane Panaho said it was disappointing to see the number of people taking risks on the Hinterland's winding roads.

"It doesn't matter what vehicle you drive, the speed limit applies to all road users," Senior Sergeant Panaho said.
