The Queensland economy will be smashed with six new and increased taxes from today thanks to the Palaszczuk Labor Government.
LNP Leader Deb Frecklington said Labor's tax hikes would hit every household and business in the state – destroying jobs and opportunities for countless Queenslanders.
"Labor's taxes are toxic for Queensland," Ms Frecklington said.
"Annastacia Palaszczuk is taking billions from the pockets of Queenslanders, making life even tougher for struggling families and small businesses.
"In the last two Budgets, Labor has ripped almost $3.5 billion out of our economy in extra taxes.
"Despite Labor's giant tax grab, our debt is soaring to over $90 billion.
"Queensland cannot afford Labor. When Labor runs out of money, it comes after yours."
The new and increased taxes in force from July 1 are:
- Waste Tax – taking $1.3 billion
- Payroll Tax – taking $544 million
- Land Tax (1) – taking $540 million
- LNG Royalties – taking $476 million
- Betting Tax – taking $366 million
- Land Tax (2) – taking $238 million
In its previous Budget, Labor also levied a new Car and Campervan Tax (taking $103 million), a Property Investors Tax ($132 million) and an additional Land Tax ($311 million).
Ms Frecklington said a future LNP Government would give Queensland a no new tax guarantee.
"If I become Premier, I will not introduce a single new tax," Ms Frecklington said.
"I want to create new jobs and opportunities for Queenslanders by allowing people to keep more of the money they earn.
"Unlike Labor, I have run small businesses and I know nowhere has ever taxed its way to prosperity."
