Sunshine Coast community, residents and beachgoers today celebrated the opening of the newly refurbished Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club's clubhouse at Peregian Beach.

Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash said the project will allow surf lifesaving volunteers to access modern well-equipped facilities enabling the club to watch over the community and activities on Peregian Beach.

"The Club now contains a new kitchen area, training rooms, viewing deck and a dedicated storage area for lifesaving equipment," Minister Nash said.

"I aim to build the kind of communities that our children and grandchildren either want to stay in or come back to, and delivering first class facilities for our volunteer lifesavers is a big part of this."

Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O'Brien joined volunteers at Peregian Beach today and said the upgrade delivered on his 2016 election commitment.

"I am proud to officially open these renovations to the Peregian Beach Club, which will encourage more people to participate in club events, build further community support  and deliver first aid education and training programs to the Peregian Beach community.

"Just as beaches are an integral part of growing up in Australia, so are our surf lifesavers, from nippers to our elite ironmen and women, they are trained as first responders to any incident where every minute counts between life and death," Mr O'Brien said.

"The people who are part of this organisation have saved many lives over the years, and should be commended for their effort and dedication."

President of Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club Ross Fisher said the Peregian Beach Life Saving Club's clubhouse is a hub for the local community.

"It is important that this facility is maintained at a level to encourage members to interact and reward members for the role in which they play as a volunteer, to ensure its viability as we re-establish a volunteer lifesaving service at Peregian Beach," Mr Fisher said.

This project was jointly funded with the Coalition Government investing $20,000 and Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club $105,677.
