Sunshine Coast police would like to commend the community in regards to generally complying with the ease of COVID-19 restrictions over the May long weekend.

The Sunshine Coast Hinterland was identified as a focus for police due to large crowds attending areas of Gardners Falls and Mary Cairncross Park. There was also a notable increase of recreational motorcycle riders in the hinterland area.

While most people did the right thing, police issued four infringement notices with people failing to comply with the Chief Health Officer’s direction. These alleged breaches occurred in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

All beaches were patrolled regularly and no major issues were identified.

Well done to you all and keep up the good work to stop the spread of COVID-19.
