Premier getting tested for COVID-19

Reports that Annastacia Palaszczuk has been tested for COVID-19 have raised concerns about the Premier’s recent regional travel schedule.

LNP Shadow Minister for Health Ros Bates said it seemed the Premier had been reckless and not taken the health advice she had been spruiking.

“I’m glad to hear the Premier tested negative to COVID, but it raises many questions,” Ms Bates said.

“The official advice is that if people are feeling unwell they should get tested. They should stay home and isolate until they get the results.”

“It appears the Premier has done neither and contradicted her own advice after being tested on Wednesday night – two days after having symptoms.

“It follows reports on Monday night during an online community forum that the Premier complained of a sore throat.

“After that she travelled to both Mackay and Bundaberg with COVID symptoms and from a restricted area in Brisbane that has seen a number of cases in recent weeks.

“It was not only reckless that the Premier didn’t follow her own department’s health advice, but if she had of tested positive it could have created two new clusters in regional Queensland.

“The Premier needs to explain why she has contradicted her own health advice and that it seems there is one rule for her and another rule for everyone else.”

Monday 14 September – Premier attends an online community forum and complains of a sore throat.

Tuesday 15 September – Travels to Mackay

Wednesday 16 September – Travels to Bundaberg.

Thursday 17 September – Confirmed reports that Premier had been tested on Wednesday night and the result was negative.

Queensland Health advice:

If you’re feeling sick, get tested today. Stay home and isolate until you get the results.
