Message from the Chair Regional Development

The past month has seen great progress for the region with the announcement of the submarine cable into the Sunshine Coast. This will provide Australia's fastest telecommunications connection to Asia and second fastest to the United States. We congratulate the Sunshine Coast Council on this milestone announcement and also acknowledge the support of the Federal and State Governments in making this a reality. We will be actively working with the Sunshine Coast Council, our elected Members of Parliament, the business community and government agencies to maximise the economic benefits for the region.

Building Better Regions Fund

Round Three of the Federal Government 's Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) has just opened with $200 million available, $45 million is especially earmarked for tourism projects.

New Team Members

Following an office restructure in line with our new strategic and business plans, we welcome two very well credentialed team members to the RDA Sunshine Coast team. Sarah Wetton will work with grant applicants, undertake research and support the Committee and Nicole Carrington will coordinate our ongoing communications and advocacy. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Shanna Douglas for her significant contribution to RDA Sunshine Coast over the past few years and wish her all the best for her future endeavours.
