Rehearsals are now underway for the upcoming production of David Williamson’s CRUNCH TIME – with performances scheduled for Thursday 16 April – Saturday 18 April at The J Theatre in Noosa.
CRUNCH TIME is latest theatrical triumph for Williamson, arguably Australia’s best known and most widely performed playwright, and will be his final play before retirement.
The production comes direct from the world premiere in Sydney at the highly acclaimed Ensemble Theatre and will be the Queensland premiere.
The Noosa production is presented as a precursor and fundraiser for NOOSA alive! 2020, with Williamson donating royalties from CRUNCH TIME to the festival, of which he is a founding patron.
NOOSA alive! producer Tim Loydell says he’s thrilled to hear from Director Mark Kilmurry that rehearsals are going well.
“There’s clearly a fabulous energy amongst a cast that includes actors of the caliber of John Wood, Guy Edmonds and Diane Craig,” Tim says.
“We’re so looking forward to seeing another thoroughly gripping Williamson production come to life here in Noosa,” says Tim “And it’s got of the ingredients that make Wiliamson’s plays so very Australian, so very contemporary, and so razor sharp funny – full of wit and that Williamson gift of putting relevant and real social issues under the spotlight”.
Steve is the typical Aussie bloke – self-assured, social and sports-mad. Recently retired from a high-flying career, he’s passed the family business over to his son Jimmy – a chip off the old block. But his eldest son Luke, an engineer with more of an interest in algebra than AFL, has never quite seen eye-to-eye with his dad and they haven’t spoken in eight years.
When Steve suddenly falls ill, time is running out to repair their broken relationship – and Luke and Jimmy will have to go to extreme lengths to fulfil their father’s final wishes.
Thursday 16 April at 7.30pm, Friday 17 April at 7.30pm, and Saturday 18 April at 2pm and 7.30pm
