That was breathtaking.

112 countries. 9,783 events. Hundreds of thousands of strikers united. One unified message:

We are in a climate emergency. We demand urgent action.

The strike last Friday was led by youth, and supported by people from all walks of life. They set the bar for Bill Shorten and Scott Morrison, and they were staunch in their demands: stop Adani, stop all new coal and gas, and transition to 100% renewables by 2030.

They were defiant. They were hopeful. They were urgent. And they called on everyone to act.

As they put it in its moving simplicity, 'we are running out of time to save the world'. We have to effect huge-scale political change as soon as we possibly can.

Now, there's just ten weeks until the election. If you feel a fire burning in your stomach after the strike on Friday, this is your chance.

We're running online volunteer briefings next week as part of our election campaign to take the fight to every climate-denier and climate-delayer in our Parliament – will you join us?

PS – We want to take a moment to acknowledge the horrific white-supremacist terror attack that took place in Christchurch, New Zealand last Friday. Our love and solidarity goes out to all affected, to Muslim communities in New Zealand, Australia and around the world. We pledge to stand up against the bigotry and hatred that fuel such Islamophobic attacks.
