Felicia handing Save Yaroomba Petition to Councillor Stephen Robinson

Coolum Beach councillor Stephen Robinson has been given a 2460-signature petition opposing the town plan changes to allow the high-rise development of beach front land at Yaroomba.

The petition allowed the community to voice their concerns and Cr Robinson was sure it will make a considerable impact on the final decision which is to be made next Monday.

The petition was started in October 2014 by Coolum resident Felicia Bowtell, and collected most of the signatures from the Coolum 4573 postcode.
A lot of the feedback from those who had signed the petition was mostly related to the lack of infrastructure to handle the increased population and the look of the 'Gold Coast' style development stating that it is not suited to the area.

Other concerns were the impact on the amenity of the area, and damage to the environment left for future generations.
