Sekisui House today acknowledged the Sunshine Coast Council for its approval of the Yaroomba Beach development, which aligns with Council’s key strategic policies of investment in new tourism accommodation, creating local jobs, and achieving world class sustainable outcomes.
Yaroomba Beach Project Director, Evan Aldridge, said the approval recognised the strategic importance of the site and the community benefits it provided to the Sunshine Coast.
Mr Aldridge said Sunshine Coast Council had undertaken a professional assessment of the plan to develop the first 5 Star hotel on the Coast in 30 years and a new coastal village.
“Sunshine Coast Council officers undertook a rigorous assessment of our application and Councillors supported their recommendation that the application be approved,” he said.
“They have shown leadership in delivering for future generations of the Sunshine Coast.
“Sekisui House is excited at the opportunity to deliver a world-class tourist destination and a residential coastal village in an exceptional beachside location.”
Mr Aldridge said planning can now commence to deliver the first stage of Yaroomba Beach – the 220-room The Westin Coolum Resort & Spa and conference facilities.
“The first stage of development will deliver the hotel and all the public elements of a new coastal village – the shops, cafes, surf lifesaving facilities, Coastal Discovery Centre and parklands,” he said.
“This beautiful new coastal village will deliver jobs and homes for locals and a luxury resort in the best location to showcase the Sunshine Coast.”
