Dr Christian Rowan MP, the LNP’s Shadow Minister for Education has today wished all returning school students in Queensland all the best for Term 1 and the school year ahead.
“It is also an exciting new year for those prep students and their families commencing their formal primary school education.
“There is no doubt that 2020 was a very challenging year for students, parents, teachers and staff at all of our Queensland schools, and I again take the opportunity to commend the spirit of collaboration by all in continuing to meet the challenges of the COVID-19 health pandemic.
“There remains significant concerns in a number of school communities about the Palaszczuk State Labor Government’s implementation of air-conditioning in schools via its Cooler Cleaner Schools Program.
“The Palaszczuk State Government must ensure that this program, and this year’s associated capital works infrastructure plans, are delivered on time and on budget.
“There are significant concerns by local residents in the western suburbs of Brisbane about the adequacy and transparency of community consultation, with respect to the proposed localities and catchments for the new Brisbane Inner West Primary School.
“The Labor Minister for Education, the Hon. Grace Grace MP, must ensure these community concerns are addressed, and that adequate community engagement and consultation takes place.
“This is also important for all other new schools to be built by the Palaszczuk State Labor Government over the next four years.”
