The September holiday activities at Sunshine Coast Council's libraries are going to be the talk of the Coast with children celebrating Talk Like a Pirate Day and everything related to building.
Community Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said Sunshine Coast Libraries had once again come to the rescue of mums and dads these September holidays with a fantastic program designed to entertain children of all ages.
"This September children will have loads of fun with building – whether it be coding, gaming, creating, engineering, animation, robotics and more," Cr McKay said.
"We have all read about the Pokémon craze that's taking the world by storm, and children can bring the game to life with Pokémon themed crafts and activities.
"Children can discover the world of coding with our easy 'how to' sessions for kids to master our tiny tinker Ozobot robots or learn to program your own game using Sploder and Kodu.
"The fascinating world of Minecraft will see children creating their own stop-go movie using Minecraft Lego or trying their hand at Minecraft crafts and activities.
"We also have Twilight Stories where children can join us in their PJ's for a fun and interactive storytime."
Cr McKay said if that isn't enough holiday fun, it's now 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl so all things 'Dahlish' will be celebrated with word games, puzzle finds and special colour-ins.
"We have Lego challenges and imagine stations for drop-in fun and for those children who would love to be a pirate, they can join in the Talk like a Pirate Day scavenger hunt. There is literally something for kids of all ages.
"We encourage families to take advantage of these fun-filled activities to entertain the children throughout the coming holidays.
"These programs are sure to be popular so book early to avoid disappointment."
