The Sunshine Coast's nocturnal native animals are coming out after dark to join more than 250 parents and kids taking part in a Halloween-themed event at Caloundra Primary School this evening.

Dressed in their best and "battiest" Halloween costumes, kids can get up close with some of our night-time creatures during a presentation by Geckoes Wildlife, explore a bat cave full of activities, enjoy dinner and drinks and catch an outdoor screening of Hotel Transylvania.

Frankie the Flying Fox will be stopping by to take part in the festivities and local ecologist and author Dr Les Hall will give a fascinating "bat chat" that uncovers how bats became associated with the tradition of Halloween.

The event will be run in partnership with Sunshine Coast Council and Caloundra Primary P&C.
