Author of best-selling recipe book series 4 Ingredients, Kim McCosker, will be sharing her tips for quick and healthy meals with Sunshine Coast locals during two free cooking demonstrations being hosted by Stockland Caloundra on 24-25 May.
The special event is being held as part of the opening celebrations of a new state-of-the-art clubhouse at Stockland’s Birtinya Retirement Village at Oceanside.
The cooking demonstrations, which will include free tastings, will take place between 10.00am and 11.30am on Thursday, May 24 and Friday, May 25 outside The Coffee Club at Stockland Caloundra Shopping Centre.
Ms McCosker said she was looking forward to showing people simple recipe ideas that were not only healthy and delicious but could also save time and money in the kitchen.
“My cooking demonstration will show how easy it is to make quick, easy and delicious healthy meals using the minimum of ingredients,” Ms McCosker said.
“Our form of cooking is great for all ages, from students to retirees, and I have been astounded by the number of seniors who have embraced the 4 Ingredients philosophy. I think it’s due to the simplicity of our recipes and also the fact that reducing the number of ingredients reduces the cost of making healthy dishes.”
The cooking demonstrations will be followed by an open day at the new Birtinya Retirement Village Clubhouse on Saturday 26 May, from 1pm to 5pm, featuring a host of free activities, live music and free food and drinks.
Pauline Barton, Regional Development Manager for Retirement Living at Stockland, said the celebrations were in keeping with Stockland’s commitment to supporting healthy lifestyles at Birtinya Retirement Village.
“We encourage everyone to come along and learn about healthy eating and see how easy it can be to incorporate some simple tips into your daily routine,” Ms Barton said.
“Our new clubhouse at Birtinya Retirement Village represents a major investment in the health and wellbeing of our residents and we’re looking forward to revealing the fantastic facilities to the wider community.”
The two-storey state-of-the-art clubhouse includes a wellness centre, gym, outdoor pool, library, billiards room, kitchen, dining area, hair salon and a crafts and cards room.
As part of the opening celebrations, Stockland Caloundra is giving away a weekend for two at Spicers Tamarind Retreat valued at $1,398. The prize includes two nights’ accommodation in a Falls Villa with a hot tub, a three-course dinner for two each night and breakfast daily.
