Sunshine Coast seniors will be able to nurture their body, mind and soul this month with a series of free events being held at Stockland’s Birtinya Retirement Village.
The jam-packed program features everything from learning how to improve your diet to enjoying live music and card games with new friends, with all events aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of local residents.
Pauline Barton, Regional Development Manager for Retirement Living at Stockland, said Birtinya Retirement Village’s free regular events were receiving a fantastic response from Birtinya seniors and those in the wider Sunshine Coast region.
“We’re thrilled that our wide range of activities and events are being wholeheartedly embraced by local seniors and encourage anyone wanting to join in to register their interest,” Ms Barton said.
“Birtinya Retirement Village is an exciting new community with a strong focus on health and wellbeing and Stockland is committed to supporting active and balanced lifestyles with a range of state-of-the-art facilities and free programs designed for seniors.”
The events kick off with a free healthy eating workshop on Preventing and Managing Diabetes on Tuesday, 17 July, which is part of a six-month series of sessions for seniors being hosted by Stockland.
Run by qualified local nutritionist and dietitian Jody Pollard from Total Nutrition Dietitian, the session will start at 10am and includes a recipe demonstration and tasting plus a healthy morning tea afterwards.
The following day will see plenty of fun and laughter at the free Cards and Crooners Winter Warmers event on Wednesday, 18 July, from 11am-1pm, where you can bring along family or friends.
Participants will enjoy a delicious lunch while listening to some favourite crooner classics, followed by a guided round of card games and the chance to make some new friends.
Tours of Birtinya Retirement Village will be available on the day, along with the opportunity to talk with both residents and staff about the exciting range of social activities and facilities on offer.
Both the healthy eating session and Winter Warmer event will be held at the new two-storey Birtinya Retirement Village Clubhouse at 3 Reflection Crescent, Birtinya.
