Experience storytime in the great outdoors with Sunshine Coast Libraries and Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens.

Get along to the gardens on Wednesday, January 9 from 9am for a fun family storytime full of tales of curious creatures.

Pack a picnic and follow the Story Walk to Whipbird Village where you’ll find the secret storytime spot.

Community Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said it was great to bring reading into outdoor areas typically used for play.

“It’s important to develop an early love for reading, and this outdoor storytime gives children the opportunity to have fun outside whilst developing their literacy skills,” Cr McKay said.

“Once storytime is over, families are invited to stay and explore the magnificent gardens.

“You can read more books at the Little Free Library or go on a wildlife hunt to discover all the creatures who live at the gardens.”

With up to 90% of brain development happening in the first five years of life, the First 5 Forever initiative supports parents and caregivers at a critical time.

Head to Sunshine Coast Libraries website to find out more.
