Ms Morgan will assess tourism and technology entrants in the International Business Excellence Awards (IBX Awards), which sees high-performing businesses and leaders from across the world compete in 32 categories.

The IBX Awards are designed to provide entrants with a vehicle to benchmark on a global scale and promote world-wide best practice. The program is supported by respected thought-leaders, business excellence institutes and consultancies from around the world.

Ms Morgan will contribute over two days, interviewing finalists and participating in workshops with international community and business leaders.

She has previously been a judge for state, national and international awards, and was last year inaugural Chair of the Stevies Awards Asia Pacific – a business awards competition open to organisations in all of the 22 countries within the Asia Pacific.

Ms Morgan is Managing Director of Maroochy River Resort and Bungalows. The Resort are multi-time winners of the Standard Accommodation category in the Queensland Tourism Awards and won Bronze at the Australian Tourism Awards last month.

“Entering the Resort into awards helped me in ways that I could never have imagined. Striving to stand out to judges made me think differently, and I became highly attuned to how successful businesses were doing things and how I could implement those initiatives in my business,” Ms Morgan said.

“Importantly, entering awards increased my respect for other operators and businesses. This stimulated my desire to get more involved in the tourism industry and contribute to its success.

“I highly recommend that owners of even small businesses, like our Resort, take a leap of faith and enter awards, because it is the cheapest form of both personal and business education that you’ll ever undertake,” she said.

Ms Morgan says that participation in the IBX Awards is providing insights into the leading-edge of the global tourism industry, and she hopes to share these understandings with the Australian industry.
