Sunshine Coast misses out again…thanks for nothing, Annastacia!

The Sunshine Coast has missed out on key regional infrastructure, again, under Labor’s fifth consecutive state budget.

The Palaszczuk Labor Government is anti-regions and anti the Sunshine Coast.

As the Sunshine Coast grows at a greater pace than the rest of Queensland, Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor have again ignored congestion busting and economy growing projects such as the Bruce Highway, the North Coast Rail and a Convention and Exhibition Centre.

LNP Member for Nicklin Marty Hunt said despite a 50% commitment from the Federal Morrison Government, Annastacia Palaszczuk continues to underfund the vital North Coast Rail duplication.

“Bill Shorten wasn’t going to save them. He matched that 50% contribution.  So the time for playing politics is over.  The time to stump up the full $390 million, as committed by Deb Frecklington and the LNP, is now. This project needs to happen,” Mr Hunt said.

“Similarly, the Federal Morrison Government has put the money on the table for six-laning the Bruce Highway between Caboolture and Caloundra.  But Annastacia Palaszczuk and the State Labor Government have squibbed it and not thrown in the necessary 20% funding to make this project a reality,” said Andrew Powell MP, Member for Glass House and Shadow Minister for Infrastructure.

“The Premier and her Ministers may not venture out of Brisbane much, but for the mums and dads trying to get to and from work and home, or the many tourists making the trip to the Coast for holidays or a weekend away, these Bruce Highway upgrades are needed now.”

“And there’s no mention of any funding for a Convention and Exhibition Centre either.  The Gold Coast has a convention and exhibition centre, as does Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns…even Gladstone”, said Miss Simpson MP, Member for Maroochydore.

“After five years in power, all Labor has delivered in this budget is higher taxes, more debt and less jobs.  No infrastructure”

“When Labor runs out of money, they come after yours. And they’re putting us further into debt to pay for their wasteful spending such as changing hospital names and Al Gore lectures. You can’t afford Labor,” concluded Miss Simpson MP.
