Sunshine Coast MP's questioned the Minister for Transport and Main Roads Mark Bailey MP in Parliament this week on his plans to fund and deliver urgent upgrades to the Mooloolah River Interchange.
Member for Buderim said that the out-dated and convoluted road interchange must be upgraded and the Minister must "Show us the money".
"This part of the Sunshine Coast's road network is vital road infrastructure that must be able to quickly and safely connect emergency services, patients and their families to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and health hub at Birtinya.
"Not only is the current situation dangerous, dragging the chain on construction is costing the local economy enormously and holding the Sunshine Coast back, one of Queensland's fastest growing regions.
"Buderim, Maroochydore and Kawana residents are fed up with lengthy delays getting to and from work and school as a result of the congested and dangerous Interchange.
"This week my colleague, Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson and I probed the Minister separately, in an attempt to elicit the truth about the Government's plans to fix the Interchange - the mess that I have heard some transport planners refer to as 'Spaghetti Junction'.
"This is a litmus test and the Minister's replies, due within 30 days, will reveal the Labor government's real commitment to road safety on the Sunshine Coast.
"Together with my parliamentary colleagues, Fiona Simpson MP and Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie MP I will continue to fight for the infrastructure we need to support this heavily populated and congested part of the Sunshine Coast," Mr Mickelberg said.
