Tall Trees Art Exhibition 2018

Cooran was a burst of colour and artistic expression last week.

In a wonderful display of community connection, the annual Tall Trees Art Exhibition saw 22 venues on King Street Cooran celebrated art - inside and out.

President of Tall Trees Art Inc., Mia Hacker said the generosity of venue hosts, open studios, sponsors, volunteers and artists across various arts platforms was something the hinterland village can be proud of.

“When people come together and thrive on being inspired, the social outcomes are great. The street was alive with smiles and creative conversation, a soap box or two and a vibe that’s unique to Cooran,” Mia shared.

The Tall Trees Art Exhibition is a pure grassroots art exhibition that showcased paintings and drawings, handmade paper and hanging installations, digital lighting and sound exploration, light morphing and photography. The 3D sculptures impressed many people, the use of metal and clay that transformed as the eyes followed lines, glass artworks with lead lights and delegate natural fibre creations, were a feast for finding inspiration.

“I feel we have triumphed in following our strengths and delivered an innovative and exciting way to be immersed amongst the art and each other. New connections and friendships were forged and plenty of fun was had by all. A big thank-you to the volunteer committee and all the helpers behind the scenes that make the magic happen,” she said.

One of those sponsors was the Pomona Community Bank branch of Bendigo Bank. Manager, Geoff Edwards was on hand to share in the community celebration.

“It was special to see Cooran filled with the vision the Tall Trees had for this exhibition this year. The talent and the passion all the artists showcased was fantastic. It was a real pleasure to be there to talk with many of them firsthand. We’re proud our Pomona branch played its part in giving back to the hinterland customers who continue to support us with their banking,” Geoff said.
