Comedy fans and keen readers are invited to enjoy an evening with international icon Eric Idle at the USC Innovation Centre on Saturday night, November 24.

Eric will talk about his autobiography, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, in this special literary event which is part of a series of Sunshine Coast Libraries author events hosted at various locations across the region.

From ingenious comic performer, founding member of Monty Python and creator of Spamalot, Eric’s memoir promises unparalleled wit and heartfelt candour.

The Monty Python’s Flying Circus sketch comedy show went on to produce some of the most enduring comedy movies of all time – The Holy Grail, Life of Brian and The Meaning of Life.

The book reflects on Eric’s remarkable journey from his childhood, through to his successful career in comedy, television, theatre and film.

Coming of age as a writer and comedian during the sixties and seventies, Eric stumbled into the crossroads of the Cultural Revolution, he captures a time of tremendous creative output with equal parts hilarity and heart.

In Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, named after a song he wrote for Life of Brian – which has since become the number-one song played at funerals in the UK – he shares the highlights of his life and five decade long career.

Eric will talk in-conversation with special guest, Mix FM radio personality Todd Widdicombe, from 6.30pm.

Pre-signed copies of Eric’s books will be available for purchase at the venue.

Tickets are $25 per person and bookings are essential via council’s library website.

Enjoy live music by talented local artist Shannon Sol Carroll.

Light refreshments are provided and a cash bar is available.

Please note: Book signings with the author will not be available.
