Saturday 17th August will see Mayor Mark Jamieson together with the SunnyKids team welcome 400+ Sunshine Coast business owners and philanthropists, donned in their best white tie suits and gowns, to the new Sunshine Coast Convention Centre for the 2019 SunnyKids Mayoral Ball, raising important funds to support children and families in need.
Charity manager Debbie Battaglini said that while the excitement of the premium white tie event is the talk of the town, the SunnyKids team are thrilled to have the spotlight put on the increasing need for funding to help more children and families in need on the Sunshine Coast.
“We are proud to have created an event that we’re sure will be hard to forget, but what we’re really hoping for is that the business and community leaders in attendance understand the ongoing need in our community to fund programs and services for many children and families in need,” said Debbie Battaglini.
“SunnyKids works to make sure every child is safe, has food and shelter, feels connected and has a strong sense of belonging so that they have the chance to reach their full potential.
“In the 2017/18 financial year SunnyKids helped 755 children of which 71% had emotional issues, 67% were in domestic violence situations, 47% were affected by medical issues and 33% were experiencing homelessness.
“This is happening in our Sunshine Coast community and we need everyone’s help to support these children and families. It takes a village!” shared Debbie.
