The Surf Club Mooloolaba Christmas Appeal Launch

NOTE: This article is older than 12 months

Now in its 3rd consecutive year, The Surf Club Mooloolaba have partnered with the Salvation Army to provide Christmas relief for local families in need. The Christmas Appeal Launch will be held on Tuesday 19th November 2019, at 9:30am.

Cr John Connolly along with Bryan Jones, General Manager of The Surf Club, will officially launch the appeal by cutting a ribbon from around our 3m Christmas Tree positioned in the Club Reception

The “Giving Tree” serves as a collection point for food and toys for those in our local community who would otherwise go without at this special time.

Bryan Jones, General Manager of The Surf Club Mooloolaba, said “Christmas is a magical time of the year. Sadly though, thousands of families go without. Last year hundreds of gifts were donated and placed around our Giving Tree and this year, with your help, I am sure we can make it thousands so that we as a community can make an even bigger difference.”

“It’s the Season to give and as a licensed Community Club, we are in the fortunate position to assist those in our community less privileged. Let’s come together and help those families who may otherwise go without this Christmas by donating food or a toy. We can bring joy and a smile to families, especially Children on Christmas morning” said Mr. Jones.

For those who wish to provide a toy donation we ask that presents are unwrapped, new and for a variety of ages. Some examples, beach towel and accessories, sports equipment, camping gear, educational toys like books and puzzles, toys, clothing, DVD’s CD’s etc. Gift vouchers are always a great choice for teenagers.

For those donating food, items with long expiry dates and non-perishable are best. Think Christmas, people will be receiving these packages as gifts. Buy brand-name products and maybe include some special items to help people celebrate on Christmas Day and where possible. Consider providing choices that suit families with young children, people with allergies, the elderly or newcomers to Australia.

We kindly ask that all gifts are placed under the “Giving Tree” at The Surf Club Reception area by Monday 16th December so that all donations can be forwarded to the local Salvation Army for distribution in time for Christmas Day.

The Surf Club Mooloolaba would love it if you could help us help families in our local community.

Let’s all come together and give hope this Christmas.
