They can't ignore me if I'm on national TV

Something incredible is happening.

In Germany, students like me are participating in the global climate strikes on 20 September. And members of Campact -- an organisation like GetUp -- just chipped in to support the student strikers in their biggest fundraiser ever!

It's giving us so much hope. And we need it.

I'm 12 years old and I'm trying to do what's right for our planet and our future. But it's not easy when Resources Minister Matt Canavan tells us "the best thing you'll learn about going to a protest is how to join the dole queue."1

Many of us are inspired by past strikes joined by parents, grandparents and great grandparents that worked to change things. We need all those people now to join us, support us and give us hope in the face of hurtful attacks from politicians.

But to reach that many people, we need a lot of support, like the students in Germany. We need flyers, posters and a national ad campaign to grow from 150,000 strikers to 300,000 or more this time.

GetUp is even helping me make a big TV ad to turn people out, but it will cost a lot and the strike is just 10 days away.

Can you chip in $12 to help us make this the biggest climate strike ever?

Something we've learned from the past is when the leaders aren't leading, you have to start somewhere -- and from little things, big things grow.

The first strike was really exciting - so many different school uniforms! There were 15,000 at the first one, and 150,000 people in March this year -- now we want to get to 300,000.

Some of us have been running meetings after school, some of us have been putting up posters and flyers, lots of different things. It's a lot on top of homework, but it's our future at stake, so we don't have a choice.

But we'll need to do something extra to keep growing. GetUp are helping me make a big TV ad and we also want to put up lots of other ads to help get adults out on the streets with us, which is really great!

But September 20 is really soon, so we need to know there's enough money to pay for all the ads. That's why I'm writing to you - please give us hope that adults are with us by helping us make this climate strike the biggest one ever!

Show your support for climate strikers by chipping in $12 to help make this the biggest one ever.

I don't want to live in a world where the Great Barrier Reef is just a memory. No more Nemo and Dory!

And I really don't want to spend my whole life cleaning up the mistakes of leaders like Scott Morrison and Matt Canavan.

That's why I'm doing everything I can to make sure everyone knows about the climate strikes. Because I believe that, together, we do have the power to do what is right.

And if students have the power to make headlines around the world, just by walking out of school, imagine what all of us could do together.

Can you chip in $12 to give us hope that adults are with us?

P.S. Here at GetUp, we wanted to do our bit to support Lucie and the Global #ClimateStrikes. So while this email is from Lucie, it has been delivered by GetUp. Don't worry, your information hasn't been shared with anyone! Anything you can do to support Lucie to get her message out would be a huge help too - you can chip in $12 here!
