We have received overwhelming response from the community in support of our World Suicide Prevention Day mission: to train 100 people as suicide-alert community gatekeepers.
We see gatekeepers as people whose day-to-day life brings them in regular contact with other people that may be at risk of suicide.
The provision of essential training and upskilling to community gatekeepers is empowering. The training builds knowledge and confidence to intervene and support someone who may be at risk of taking their life.
Today, we are welcoming 70 people through our doors to attend safeTALK training. On Thursday and Friday, we will spend two days with 30 community members at the incredible Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshop.
Mission = complete. On behalf of our full team, we thank you for supporting each other and for valuing your community's mental health and wellbeing.
