Update ' Fatal pedestrian incident, Sunshine Coast

Forensic Crash Unit investigators have charged a man following a fatal traffic incident this morning which claimed the life of a 21-year-old Minyama man at Maroochydore.

The 25-year-old Mooloolaba man attended the Maroochydore Police Station this morning in relation to incident on Maroochy Boulevard.

He has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and leaving the scene of incident without obtaining help.

The man has been given police bail to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on January 22.

The man's sedan has been seized and subject to forensic examination.

The family of the 21-year-old Minyama man who died have requested privacy at this time as they grieve the loss of their loved one.

Investigators continue to seek any witnesses, or drivers who may have dashcam footage of the incident who were travelling on Maroochy Boulevard in either direction around the time of this incident.

Police are appealing for information following a suspected hit and run incident at Maroochydore where a 21-year-old man died.

Around 1.30am this morning, police and paramedics were called to the man who lay unconscious on the side of Maroochy Boulevarde.

First aid was rendered immediately, however the Minyama man died on scene a short time later.

Initial investigations suggest the man may have been hit by a vehicle who failed to stop.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has footage from along Maroochy Boulevard between 1am and 1.30am, is encouraged to contact police.
