Sunshine Coast police said farewell to Police Dog Oakley this week.

PD Oakley commenced operational duties on the Sunshine Coast in 2012 with Senior Constable Reynolds.

Over the last six years, PD Oakley successfully located hundreds of offenders and missing persons.

PD Oakley, along with his handler, received a number of citations throughout his career including an Assistant Commissioner’s certificate following the successful apprehension of an armed offender.

PD Oakley was retired from operational duties in early 2018 due to medical issues. He has spent the last year at his handler’s house living out the remainder of his life in style.

PD Oakley also sired multiple litter’s a number of which have gone on to be successful Police Dog’s.
