Sunshine Coast police today farewelled one of their most valued team members who has retired after 31 years of dedicated service.
Karin Burgess worked as a cleaner in both Maroochydore Station and District Office since the 1980s, but has now decided to rip off her colourful gloves for good.
Today she was piped from the District Office building on the Esplanade to the sounds of “Jingle Bells” and escorted into a waiting police vehicle.
Family, work colleagues and local media watched on as Karin was honoured for her years of hard work and service.
Superintendent Darryl Johnson said Karin would always remain an important part of the Queensland Police family.
“Karin always went about her work without a word of complaint and has played a vital role in keeping our offices running smoothly over the last 31 years,” Superintendent Johnson said.
“We could not have asked for a more genuine and caring person to be part of our lives and bless us with her presence on a daily basis,” he said.
The Queensland Police Service wishes Karin well in retirement and all the best for the future.
