There has never been a more important time for the Sunshine Coast’s tourism industry to stand united.

The impact COVID-19 has had on tourism operators and small businesses has been extraordinary, and Visit Sunshine Coast (VSC) is focused on providing practical support to help our industry navigate the way forward.

That’s why VSC has made the decision to waive membership fees for its members for the next 12 months.

New members looking to join VSC from the 2020/21 financial year will be able to do so at the discounted fee of $10.

Some benefits of VSC membership include: promotion through VSC’s website and marketing campaigns, fortnightly industry newsletters, access to training and workshops, the opportunity to promote your brochures through VSC’s Visitor Information Centres, involvement in media and trade familiarisation activities and media support.

VSC CEO Simon Latchford said VSC was committed to doing everything it could to support the tourism industry during its recovery.

“We want to make sure businesses can find a way back from these challenging times, and grow and prosper post COVID-19,” he said.

“It is clear we must take a ‘crawl, walk, run’ approach, and we will stand by our industry every step of the way.

“A membership with VSC is a way for tourism operators and local businesses to stay connected, remain up-to-date with important tourism news, get involved in co-operative destination marketing campaigns and forge working partnerships with fellow industry members.”

Mercure Sunshine Coast Kawana Waters General Manager and VSC member John Örning said he valued being part of the region’s tourism network.

“It is important, especially now, to have someone locally that advocates for the local tourism industry,” he said.

“As we have seen in the past few months, moving forward we will need to find new ways to adapt and support one another.

“Helping each other out is a really strong quality of the Sunshine Coast tourism community.”

New members are encouraged to sign up to VSC’s $10 ‘Tourism Essentials’ package at teamsunshinecoast.com/10.
