The Kozii Iron Challenge come to Mooloolaba Beach on Saturday 21st September 2019 from 8 am. Junior Surf Lifesavers from Northern NSW to Port Douglas will compete in Race 1 of a 3-Race Series, the Kozii Iron Challenge Series. The event is open to Under 9’s through to Under 17’s.

Mooloolaba Beach is an ideal venue for young athletes to test their board, swim and run abilities. This  is the second year the event will be held at Mooloolaba Beach, and Division 9 Councillor, Cr John Connolly has thrown his support behind the event that attracts athletes, family and friends from far and wide, supporting the local community.

Whilst the Kozii Iron Challenge has been running for three years, 2019 will see the introduction of the inaugural three-race Series; Mooloolaba on September 21st, Tugun on November 23rd   and Raby Bay on December 14th. The round-robin format ensures there will be no eliminations with all competitors guaranteed three tough iron races. The male and female who accumulates the most points in their age group will receive the Kozii Iron Challenge Age Champion trophy.

The format of males and females racing concurrently in courses next to each other with races starting every 15 minutes, ensures fast, continuous action. There is plenty of colour, music and atmosphere to a sport that traditionally relies on numerous events run over one or two days.

“We are really excited to be hosting the Kozii Iron Challenge at Mooloolaba Beach again this year. It is a fantastic event and a great way for kids to start off the summer competition season. The day is an exciting event of sportsmanship and non-stop fun on Mooloolaba Beach,” said Matthew Horder Mooloolaba Nippers JAC.

Social media will play an important role in publishing heat times prior to the event. Photos and recordings will be uploaded continuously throughout the event. The event will be held in the morning with the first race starting at 8am and presentations at around 12:30pm.
