Yesterday, South Australian Senators Rex Patrick and Stirling Griff from the Centre Alliance (formerly Nick Xenophon Team) sided with the Coalition to block a vote on a bill to remove discrimination against LGBTQ students in schools.
Parents and children deserve certainty when enrolling for school next year. Students deserve to know that they won't be expelled because of their sexuality or gender identity.
Labor and the Greens are trying to bring on a vote on the bill to remove these unfair and outdated laws this year... but we need the Centre Alliance's support.
We need your help to get the Senate to vote this year.
We have just under 24 hours to convince the Centre Alliance to vote to bring on the bill, and to vote against unnecessary and complicated amendments which would allow discrimination against children.

What should I say?
- Ask the Senator to vote for the bill this year: "I'm calling to ask you to vote for the bill to end discrimination against LGBTQ students in schools this year, without any hostile amendments which would allow indirect discrimination against children."
- Share your story: "I went to a Christian school and lived in fear of being expelled because of my sexuality / gender identity. No kid should have to walk through the school gates next year afraid of being kicked out because of who they are."
Thank you for your help to end discrimination against LGBTQ students across the country.
