What would you prefer to a budget surplus?

We live in a time of unprecedented challenges, with a government that's asleep at the wheel.

Bushfires are raging earlier and hotter than ever before, and our aged care system is rife with abuse. Essential democratic rights are under attack, and vital institutions like our public broadcasters are being underfunded and undermined.

As the economy slows and unemployment continues to rise, this government has revealed how shallow its political imagination is. They've reached deep into their bag of policy ideas and and pulled out... another round of tax cuts for the wealthy.

But the people of this country are far more courageous, ambitious and innovative than their current government – and it's time to prove it.

Will you show Scott Morrison what a real vision for 2020 looks like? Take this 5 minute survey to inform our budget submission!

The cornerstone of the Government's current agenda is to strip more money out of the economy than they put back in. And it couldn't happen at a worse time.

Australia's economic growth is at its lowest since the global financial crisis.1 Some are saying we are on the brink of a recession.2

Periods like this tend to bring out the worst in our government.

The Coalition have previously used the threat of recession as an excuse for vicious austerity, cutting funding for health, education and social welfare. Our movement has been successful in beating back the worst of these cuts – as we did with the 2014 Hockey budget – but with storm clouds gathering on the horizon, we need to be proactive.

Can you help us put a strong, positive, united set of alternatives on the public record?

Stand against cuts to vital services. Can you take this 5 minute survey to tell us what you want to see in the 2020 budget?

Thank you for making GetUp what it is – we're powered by your energy, and imagination.
