Wide Bay schools could score new equipment, building projects or additional targeted support with the Australian Government providing grants up to $20,000 for projects to benefit local kids' learning experience.
Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O'Brien said the Local Schools Community Fund will offer grants between $1,000 and $20,000 to contribute to a variety of school projects and associated costs.
"This is an excellent opportunity for Wide Bay schools to apply for funding for projects like new playground equipment, renovating a classroom or improving sports facilities," Mr O'Brien said.
"I'd encourage all schools in Wide Bay to think about what they could do with a share of the funds that would deliver real benefits and improve the quality of education for their students."
The Fund will open for applications on 25 July 2019 and schools may lodge one application for each of their campuses.
The Local Schools Community Fund is open to government, Independent and Catholic schools, but eligibility conditions will apply, and proposed projects will be assessed by a committee to be appointed by the Member for Wide Bay.
Projects could include small-scale extensions or classroom refurbishments, new computer facilities, mental health and counselling services, playground equipment, library resources, or sports facilities.
The Federal Government announced the $30.2 million Local Schools Community Fund in the 2019 Budget.
Applications will be through SchoolsHUB – https://schools.education.gov.au/. Schools may submit one application for up to $20,000 funding for each of their campuses. Applications open on 25 July 2019 and close on 30 September 2019 and projects must be completed by the end of 2020.
