Grab a bargain, enjoy some cheese and biscuits, hear some great music and help Regain Hope help save children from slavery and sex trafficking by attending the opening of our Maroochydore store on Wednesday, November 4.

Regain Hope has four stores on the Sunshine Coast with proceeds going straight to charities in Cambodia which are working to tackle these important issues.

"There are so many charities in Cambodia doing great work that we didn't see a need to re-invent the wheel by opening yet another charity there," Regain Hope founder Cathy Harrison said.

"We decided to check out the operations of some existing charities and found three which we really felt aligned with our principles so now we raise funds to help their work.

"Our focus is on keeping children and families safe and together. The programs we support financially are all aimed at combatting the issues of child slavery, sex trafficking and child brides and there is a lot that still needs to be done."

One program Regain Hope supports in Cambodia is the ABCs and Rice Program. In Cambodia it is the norm for parents to send children out to work. In this charity, the children's "job" is to go to school where they learn literacy and numeracy and agricultural skills on the farm and fish farms and chickens which forms part of the school. They are also fed breakfast and lunch at the school.

At the end of the week, each child who has done their "job" and attended school for the week gets paid in rice, vegetables, fish, eggs and chicken they have helped grow or raise. This is usually enough to feed the whole family.

"The children get educated and the family gets fed," Cathy said. "It is beautiful in its simplicity and success and something we are very excited to be a part of. It also works towards our core goals of stopping child trafficking and labour and if a daughter going to school is feeding her family by doing so, she is much less likely to be sold by her family."

For those who can't attend, raffle tickets can be purchased through our Facebook page  Raffle prizes include: cake from Cake Alchemy, family pass on Noosa Ocean Rider, fitness sessions with Israel from Noosa Box Office, a five-pass personal training pass Corey from Explosive Fight and Fittness, Thomas Corner restaurant voucher, Koko eye brow sculpture and plenty of other great prizes.

Donations will also gratefully be received.

Regain Hope will launch its Maroochydore store at 99 Aerodrome Rd (directly opposite Aldi) between 4.30 and 8.30pm.

Entry is $8 and includes wine, cheese, live music and lucky door prize with proceeds going directly to charity.
