Both locals and tourists alike all know, the popular area of Mooloolaba is a hive of activity with pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

Police from the Mooloolaba Police Beat and Transport Inspectors from the Department of Transport and Main Roads joined forces yesterday, Tuesday August 28 to target the Fatal Five: speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing a seatbelt, driving while fatigued and driving distracted.

Police are happy that no drink drivers were detected out of the 387 RBT tests conducted, but are disappointed in the number of drivers committing life endangering offences as they enter and travel around this very popular location.

Police issued 16 traffic infringements for a multitude of offences, including speeding, using a mobile phone and other life endangering offences.

It’s a timely reminder of the Road Safety messages being reinforced this week – whether you’re walking, driving a car/truck, riding a bicycle or motorcycle, we all need to share the road safely!

Refreshing your road rules knowledge is a simple way to improve road safety for yourself and for other road users. To find out more, visit Join the Drive or follow Join the Drive on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
