Yaroomba Beach Response to activist group gathering

“Our integrated tourism and residential plan at Yaroomba Beach is world class, and is the only viable proposal for our site that can deliver on Council’s policy objectives for the benefit of the wider community.

“The proposal has received the backing of the Sunshine Coast’s major business and tourism bodies and the support of Queensland and national organisations, including Virgin Australia, Tourism Australia, the Housing Industry Association and Queensland Tourism Industry Council to name but a few.

“And it has received a big tick of approval from thousands of everyday people right across the Coast - mums and dads who want a place to take the kids, job seekers looking for quality work, retirees who want to downsize, family businesses large and small, and the tradies and suppliers who’ll be needed to build this new asset for the region.

“Yaroomba Beach is a project that will enhance the reputation of the Sunshine Coast and it is sad that the strategy of the activist groups has been to lie to garner support for their position.

“Their decision to deliberately mislead the community about the facts of our proposal is the action of people looking to divide, not unite, the community, and ultimately undermines the approvals process to the detriment of all.”
